I Want To Cross The Rubicon

There is a multi-million dollar self help industry but so far the benefits have accrued to the few whilst the rest get a temporary morale boost for their dreams and that is it. The current financial crisis has put this industry under scrutiny and put some realities into perspective. I have read a number of self help books over the last couple of years as I have chased a entrepreneurial dream and many times I have fallen shot because I still cannot find the key to crack the code

Even If You Do Not Want To Hear It There Is Always A Price To Pay

Some people are content with their lives they might be envious but they are content and are not willing to make the sacrifices to attain what other successful people have managed to get. Some are in search of the secret that will make everything work without exerting effort

My greatest fear is that will become another dead beat blog with no purpose than massaging my bruised ego.  I do not want that I am not interested in numbers for numbers sake I want to make a difference in my life and other people's lives.

People sometimes focus on the wrong beliefs

Can you really be anything you want? If anything. the world has shown that we cannot just do anything and expect to succeed. The people who become exceptional in their chosen fields did not just get there because they dreamed and believed it. Most of them had to go through rigorous hours of training and practice in order to become masters of their own domain.

Some people try to live on their intelligence alone or luck but in most cases you need to put in the labor to make transformations. You cannot think things into reality without acting on your thoughts.

Identify the talent

Practice there is no substitute for practice because you can work on your weaknesses and make the right adjustments

Hard work is not about producing a boatload of sweat rather it is about doing the right things at the right time in a consistent and disciplined manner. The people who think they worked hard and did not get their just returns might not have been working in the right way.

I have been writing my e-book series for the past two years and the first book in the series will be released in May.

One Size Does Not Fit All

Too many generalizations, just because it worked for some people does not mean that it will work for you. We are unique individuals and there is no one fit solution for everyone. We all deal with the challenges of life differently.

Not having enough courage to get up and start doing. Some people might see the need to change but it is difficult for them to take the steps necessary to apply what they have been reading about. I am reluctant to be a writer because I am still struggling to come up with a marketing strategy that will get me enough sales from the African market.

At the same time people might not know how to apply the information that they have been given. Information on its own without the correct tools will remain as it is. I am not yet internet savvy to drive enough traffic fr the books.

Everything must be based on realistic expectation; there is no magic bullet to solving problems. Obviously there have been people who have used the self help industry to promote their own greed without regard for people who are searching for real solutions. Fast and easy or instant are not the by words you should be looking for when you want something that will transform your life.

It does not matter that you come from a rich family or a poor family you are not without a talent you can use to make a place for yourself in the world. Success is not for the lucky few who have been destined to rise above all others. All of us have witnessed the true fact that failure is part of every social background.

I Want To Cross The Rubicon

All great army generals never underestimated their enemies. People sometimes think that it will be an easy ride to the top. Their calculations do not acknowledge that it will take sweat, time for them to realize their goals This is why get rich quick schemes are always flourishing even when people know that when things are too good to be true they usually are. I wonder if my strategy will work, will I get the numbers

Consistent Action is part of the tools you need to succeed but that action has to be directed at achieving the goal because there are people who work very hard but at the end of the day they become disillusioned because they feel that their work has not been rewarded with the same amount of success. This is true for some effort does not relate to outcome; then again some of us use our energy to look busy when we are not really doing anything.

There is no easy formula everything you try will have problems and challenges that you need to fix and overcome. The problem with some people is that they give up too early. If you do not meet obstacles then you will not attain greatness because people are considered great as a result of the size of the obstacles they have overcome.

Essentially not failing involves being responsible for what happens to you. Not everything that happens to you is a result of external forces but it is a manifestation of the choices that have been made.

Even inspiration needs to be refilled from time to time.

7 STEPS TO SOLVING PROBLEMS

We all face different problems everyday. In the extreme some problems lead to people taking their own lives. However, there are seven basic problem solving steps that could help people struggling to cope.

Daniella chose to make changes in her life. After beginning work her life had undergone drastic changes such that she found herself gaining weight, which complicated her life as she has diabetes. She did what was necessary for her condition and avoided being caught up in fads. Her story is  not miraculous or sexy but it is closer to reality than a lot of weight loss miracles (If you can call them that).

Below are the seven basics that she used

Step 1 Recognize the Problem

That was no rocket science, since we all recognize our problem, that is why some of us fall into despair.
For example the challenge could be that you think you have a weight problem. To be sure that it is not just an assumption you are making you can use the Body Mass Index to find out if you do have a weight problem.

Daniella is 5 ft 12in and was closing in on 200 pounds which is considered to be overweight. By the way body mass index is weight divided by height. She was supposed to be below 184lbs in order to be considered as having a healthy body. So she had to loose 16lbs.

Step 2 What Condition Do I Desire

Another no brainer if you will, you and I already know this. So why am I writing this if the first two steps are obvious, well it might be obvious to some people but the number of people who fall into depression whilst others just give up living choosing existentialism, proves otherwise.

Do not let the media influence the figure or weight you should aspire to. Turning on the Television or reading a magazine can become a daunting exercise because we are bombarded with images of what is  a good body shape and size

There are a few things you should take note of

  1. Endorsement by a celebrity and even or by a medical doctor does not mean that the product, program or diet are the answer. It is always better to take time to do the research on the product rather than just accepting everything with alacrity
  2. Are the images that we see really what they are or has there been some tinkering/airbrushing done on photoshop. In other words, it used to be don't believe everything you hear, these days it is safe to say don't believe everything you see.

If you do choose to live a healthy lifestyle, then you have to be willing to make long term changes to the way you think so that whatever you feed your mind will assist you instead of hinder you get your goals.

Step 3 Decide What To Do

What are you going to do to move from present state to a desired alternative? You can write them down(cliche, but true)and see how many ways you can solve a problem before choosing a irreversible one.

Daniella can choose from the following choices:

Exercise

Surgery

Weight Loss pills

Diets

A healthy lifestyle

Daniella chose the last option because she did not want it to be a once off experience she wanted real practical change even if the results where going to take long she realized that the chances were high that they would last in the long term.

Step 4 Results

What is the result for each decision? Each decision has consequences so you need to take note of each one.
What will be the short/long term out come of each choice listed above, and how will it help Daniella solve her problem?

Step 5 The Best Alternative

After considering the advantages of each choice you obviously have to choose what you think is the best alternative.

The best alternative has to guarantee your long term health rather than just changing your appearance for a few months

Step 6 Action

Do it , don't wait and start to analyze otherwise you will lose time and might end up just throwing it in the back burner like a lot of other goals that we have.

She made a plan and learned how to effectively use her time. But she did not stop there she implemented her ideas.

Step 7 Review

After everything is said and done what was the end result. Did you get your expectations

Did you achieve what you set out to do? Daniella did it in four months, although there is no formula to how long it should take, you should be guided by safety considerations

Do not give up if things did not go as expected, changing a way of life takes time and effort, so even if you stumble just keep going.

7 STEPS TO SOLVING PROBLEMS

We all face different problems everyday. The challenge could be weight related, financial, emotional or spiritual, it does not matter because the same basics apply when desiring change. In the extreme some problems lead to people taking their own lives. However, there are seven basic problem solving steps that could help people struggling to cope.

Daniella is a twenty-something financial consultant who works long and finds that she struggles with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Do not let the media influence the figure or weight you should aspire to. This has led some people to follow dangerous lifestyle patterns that end in eating disorders and health conditions. The magazines have their own agendas, that is why they sell certain images that might have nothing to do with the realities of most of us.

If your goal is to live a healthy lifestyle or to achieve your goals it is always a good idea to avoid the sensationalism that comes packaged in magazines and other media platforms.
